Carpentersville Little League in the 60's and 70's

Amarillo Park had at least 5 fields for Little League

Mr. Preis, Mr. Ptack, Mr. Berger, Mr. Woodhouse and Mr. Windholz were just a few of the Little League coaches that made summers so much fun.  I played my first Little League game at age 7, Mr. Preis was my coach.   Even though I was a pretty little kid he still let me play catcher.  I wore the number 10 all through the minor league, Ron Santo's number.  There wasn't anything that I looked forward to more than practice and games. - Chuck Engels

Here are some pictures of my dad who started organized little league in carpentersville, built the field and put everything together.  The city of Carpentersville even made a day for him it's called Bob Berger Appreciation Day.  He coached the eagles, the All Star teams, and the lions.  He was great.  Here are some pictures in memory of him...
